Mobile phone identity spoofing

In the latest issue of Cryptogram, Bruce Schneier's security newsletter, he talks about Finnish mobile phone spoofing. The "alert reader" he was talking about was me!

I wrote to him about this subject a couple of months ago. It is indeed interesting that mobile phones do not check the whole number. I suspect it is because when calling from abroad the presented calling number can contain international prefixes that need to be ignored by the address book search. At any rate, it is useful to be aware of this.
