A blog about Ruby, Rails and other Tech. Mostly.Back to blog
There is a new search engine called UJIKO. To quote them: "UJIKO uses the brand new Yahoo (c) search technology ( Yahoo Search Technology). According to search engine experts, results are considered at least as relevant as Google’s ones." I thought I would try it out. I picked a simple thing to search for - the Madeleine project which I have been involved in. When searching for madeleine ruby on Google, the first six results are on the subject of the Ruby prevalence engine Madeleine, exactly what I was looking for. The top result is the project homepage. Perfect. On Ujiko, well, not so good. The first four results are complete rubbish - Buy rubies on ebay, ruby wax in hello magazine, top 100 girls names, and an episode guide for a TV show. Then the 5th result is a page on *this* website where I mention madeleine. After that, there are pages more of useless links - there are no further relevant results. No project homepage, no links to the ruby garden wiki where madeleine has a page - just nothing. Hopeless results, and an unnecessary flash interface - I'll stick to Google thanks. Back to blog |
